Language Crap

English.

Not german. Not chinese.

As a whole, not a crappy language. For communication. For cursing.

But there are some quirks in the language. Quirks that border on crap.

Take for example:

PronOunce. Pronunciation. Whatever happened to the ‘O’ in the first word?

And talking about pronunciation – more quirks:

“economic” is pronounced as ec-con-nor-mic. Crap. Why not spell it like it is pronounced: ecconormic. There. No more confusion.

And what about “predator”? Pronounced as pre-dee-ter. More crap.

To the English – Please make up your mind. Say what you write and write what you say.

    Dear Sjilo,
I can understand that English has it’s difficulties. It is a blend of many languages that took centuries to develop. The spelling and pronunciation of English words literally has it’s own history (see “The Cambridge Encyclopedia of the English Language”). You might want to try some online dictionaries to help you pronounce Our language more correctly; for example
“economic” is NOT pronounced as ec-con-nor-mic (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/economic)
    and
“predator” is NOT pronounced as pre-dee-ter (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/predator)
I wish you the best in you learning experiences, especially in world languages. I feel that the fact that humans can take grunts, burps, and lip pops, and assemble them into vast catalogs of ideas, both real and abstract is, in and of itself, an amazing phenomena.
I wish you peace, and good in all things.
Mr. Dilusia (no, eggburt is not my name… it is a reference to a popular comic character)
