The fuel proposal was clearly not thought out carefully. Not in the planning stage. And no thought went into the implementation. Well, back to the drawing board


Other nations take a great many months to effect some laws. Here in Malaysia, anything goes. It’s like there is no value in the laws being promulgated. A piecemeal stop gap measure. A clear bet that the leaders are bereft of ideas . A fact that all the sloganeering and chest thumping will not change.


If you own a company, would you hire these half-past-six to run it?

Dead man talking. Not sure from which end of the opening. Like everything UMNO, fork-tongued.

His is a bankrupt idea – raising the racial spectre just so he could get rid of a Malay leader. I shudder to think what the aftermath would be if his sworn enemy is a non-Malay.

I respected the man when he first took over the helm. How he took over UMNO was irrelevant to me – I was too young then.

By and large, in the early days, he showed he really cared for the people. In my opinion, he was successful in navigating Malaysia towards industralisation and modernity.

In all honesty, I was proud of him.

Until the Bank Bumiputra (Hong Kong) issue, the foray into forex market. The nation lost billions at a time when millions were sufficient to boggle the mind. I realise then, that behind the facade of a caring leader, lies a somewhat vicious person who was not below resorting to extremes to get his ways.

Unfortunately, over time, he became more vicious, especially in dealing with his ‘enemies’.

And in the matter of forex control during the economic crisis of the nineties, in my opinion, the success could be attributed to luck rather than Che Dead’s wisdom. He did not have many choices. Approaching IMF was a no-no. Think about it: despite all advice to the contrary, he went ahead with the fixed currency rate. Come hell or high water, without any reasonable underlying basis, he went ahead with it. Fortunately for all Malaysians, the implementation proved right. What if it was wrong? Shudder…

He was willing to sink the nation rather than veering from his known position.


He is still willing to do it today, just to sink Abdullah.

An overwhelming vote. The people believes he is no longer relevant. I feel for the institution. But he did exacerbate the issue himself, and thus accelerated the change.

Hmm…wonder if other countries with constitutional monarchy will start to have ideas?

Delusion Crap

The God Delusion

A great book.

Written by the celebrated evolutionary biologist, Oxford Professor Richard Dawkins.

Be forewarned though – Dawkins comes across as an arrogant, sarcastic SOB in the book. He is intolerant and scornful of the religious. It is not a book for the weak minded. Not for those who have their pet beliefs. And definitely not for those who take things personally.

My first exposure to Dawkins was through his audio book of the same title last year. I had trouble stomaching some of his sarcasm. I got angry at this loud-mouthed brit who talked as if he is 100% sure there is no God! But the tone of the reader in the audio book could have contributed to my intense dislike of Dawkins.

Once I get over my initial dislike and prejudice, I found the book a fascinating read.

In brief, Dawkins, using scientific discoveries, argues why God cannot exists.

I prefer the book – it does not come across as ‘in-your-face’ as the audio book.

The cheap paperback version has been out for a year now. Get it if you think you can deal with it. Stay away if you cherish your faith and are not prepared to have it challenged.

My advice to those who want to readit – Do not let the colour of his skin or the manner of his presentation turn you off.

By the way, there is another book rebutting Dawkins written by a creationist scientist. A rather thin volume. Unfortunately, the rebuttal wasn’t really convincing. Not worth mentioning it here.
