Rationalizing The Role of Government

A brilliant and practical look at the government.
I like this the best:As for any savings, Abdullah would achieve considerably more by getting rid of his luxurious Airbus corporate jet. If he were to do so, the jet would become a revenue producer instead of at present, a costly expense item. He would effectively move it from the liability to the asset column.

The British Prime Minister does not have a private jet, despite leading an economy and nation considerably larger. To think that this Imam of Islam Hadhari, only a generation away from the poverty of the kampong, having such an obscenely extravagant taste, at public expense! Abdullah, his ministers and senior officials are, in the wisdom of the village, tak sedar ekor (lit. not aware of their tail; fig, someone oblivious of their greed)

Read further and you cannot but find yourself agreeing wholeheartedly with him…

Don’t resort to demos, Anwar supporters warned

Supporters of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim have been warned not to resort to street demonstrations to pressure police into stopping investigations into the latest sodomy allegation against him.
Issuing the warning, Federal CID director Datuk Mohd Bakri Zinin said police would crack down on any demonstrators

Something is terribly wrong with the state of the police in the country.
They warn when they hear rumours of demonstration organised by the opposition.
But they never seem to warn UMNO if and when UMNO wants to demonstrate.

“Don’t try to pressure us by organising illegal rallies or gatherings. We will not hesitate to take action as provided under the law.”

Aiyo – who is pressuring the police? Any demonstration will be for the benefits of the power-that-be, no? And only orang bodoh will believe a demonstration is to pressure the police to stop investigation. Pressure to ensure fair and clean investigation – yes. Stop the investigation? No, lah.

He also warned Anwar’s supporters not to assume that police had an agenda in this case

Susah nak percaya, given the above…

Bakri, Bakri – how did you earn your stripes, I wonder.

Syed Hamid Crap

You will love this: Anwar is play acting, charges Syed Hamid

I rank the minister second “behind” Nazri when it comes to being an idiot.

Crap 1:

Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar told reporters in Parliament lobby today: “I guarantee that his life will not be in danger when police carry out their investigation. We have a legal system here and everyone, including Anwar, must respect that.”

Now, I for one, am not so sure Anwar’s life is in danger. Anwar is known to indulge in sandiwara-style politics.

But here is the home minister, who at best is only good for ministering at home, giving a guarantee that Anwar’s life would not be in danger. Does the minister intend to provide 24 hours (round the clock) protection? He seems to be ‘cock’-sure. And what has a legal system got to do with Anwar’s life being in danger. My advice to the minister: tak ada nak cakap, please don’t talk cock.

Crap 2:
Syed Hamid said that since Anwar was released from prison in 2004, he has had the freedom to do what he wanted as a political activist, both locally and overseas.

“Nobody has endangered or threatened him. He could move freely making all sorts of statements and allegations

Hoi – that was then. This is now – when Anwar is almost a hair’s breadth away from the seat (or is it shit?) of power.

Crap 3:
“We have not taken any action to endanger his life. Why should we do that? His family has done very well in the political arena. This is not a country that stops people from doing what they want to do so long as it is within the law,” he said

Aiyoh – who says YOU are endangering his life? (or is that a reverse-confession?). And, sir-bodoh, what has his family’s achievement got to do with his life being in danger?

Crap.

Dr M: Let govt decide on allegation

It is up to the government to decide on the sodomy allegation against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said.

“It is a new case. We will see what the police are going to say, what the government will say,” he said after meeting Bosnia and Herzegovina President Dr Haris Silajdzic here yesterday

Aiyo, Che’ Dead: This is a matter for the police. What has the government got to do with it? Anwar does not hold any position in the government, lah.

Goes to show how much a police state the country has become since the time of Che’ Dead, doesn’t it?

Sodomy Crap

Now this is interesting – at least a ‘fact’ to give credence to a claim, amidst the mud-slinging going both ways:

Accuser was a ‘plant’

I like this one:

‘The notion that a 61-year old with a bad back can forcibly sodomise a strapping 23-year old is laughable. This is simply not the kind of thing that anyone, not even Anwar’s harshest critic, is going to believe’

Of course, I am biased – I am inclined to believe Haris.
